CLASS SCHEDULE

  • ACTING CAMP | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
    • Ages 5 - 8 | Intro to Acting
    • Ages 9 - 12 | Acting Foundations
    • Ages 13 - 18 | Acting Bootcamp
    • Students will be instructed in the art of acting and work on building skills appropriate for their age level. The youngest students will work on building confidence and expanding their imagaination, while older students will work on interpreting scripts and becoming their characters amongst many other skills.
  • AUDITIONING WORKSHOP | 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
    • Ages 9 and Up
    • Students will work on developing auditon skills & etiquette and be advised/instructed on good habits specifically for THRIVE auditions. 
  • STAGE PRODUCTION CAMP | 2pm - 4pm
    • Ages 13 & Up
    • "Tech" camp.
  • SCENIC DESIGN | 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
    • Ages 13 & Up
    • Creation of set pieces & scenery 
  • ACTING FOR ADULTS | 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
    • Ages 18 & Up 
    • Camp isn't just for kids anymore! 

Details & Instructions

  1. On the first day of camp, arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in. 
  2. There will be 30 minute gaps between classes to accomadate students taking multiple classes. 
  3. Food will NOT be provided for students. Students attending multiple classes should bring a lunch, snack, or other food with them to be eaten BETWEEN classes, NOT during. 
  4. Food is NOT allowed in the auditorium or during classes. 
  5. Students must be picked up after they have completed their classes for the day. Camp staff will be busy instructing their next classes and CANNOT be responsible for lingering students. 
  6. Classes may be cancelled if too few students sign-up. In the event of a cancellation, you will be imediately informed and recieve a refund for the class.

Lead Instructor

Desiree Boardwine, a teacher, director, songwriter, musician, performer, and THRIVE's Director of Education has been a lover of the arts her entire life. As a teen, she acted in every theatrical production at her high school, performed at musical venues such as the House of Blues and Kent Stage, won a songwriting competition presented by Time Warner Cable, and performed on live, national television during the “Singing Family Face-Off” on the CBS Early Morning Show. Throughout her years at Kent State University, where she majored in education, Desiree acted as Streetsboro High School’s assistant theatre director and aided in productions including Big Bad, Lady Dracula, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Alice in Wonderland.

Since graduating college, Desiree has been directing productions around the area including Springfield High School’s Peter Pan and Wendy, and Cuyahoga Falls High School’s Beauty and the Beast. She is currently an English and Drama teacher at Stow-Munroe Falls High School and instructing several performance camps for Weathervane Playhouse. Last year she directed THRIVE's rendition of Peter Pan and Wendy, performed in Back to the 80's,  and starred in THRIVE's original musical Frankenstein's Bride.
